People are the heart of Yale Dems.
The Yale College Democrats are founded in community and uphold the belief of creating the change we wish to see. We take pride in fostering dialogues and opportunities to get to know one another as both friends and as Democrats.
As Dems, we cultivate a supportive and inclusive environment for not just first-year and incoming students, but for every individual on campus. Being at Yale can be intimidating and overwhelming, and we want to make each student feel welcome and a part of the Dems community.
In addition to the supportive space, Dems is known for its thriving social community at Yale and the incredible bonds that are formed within our organization at events. Whether a member of Dems, one of our friends, a family member, or alumni, all are always welcome. Our events range from “Dems Formal” in the fall and our fundraising “Benefit Gala” in the Spring which raised $1,100 for IRIS in 2023 (a New Haven-based refugee advocacy group) to trivia nights, watch parties, and our beloved family weekend events. If you have any ideas for more events or questions, please feel free to contact our Events Coordinator Riley Elliott at riley.elliott@yale.edu.
If you have any questions about our community or would like to get more involved, please feel free to contact our Membership and Inclusion Coordinator Alexandra Martinez-Garcia at alexandra.martinez-garcia@yale.edu.
